2-alarm fire sends several firefighters to the hospital

Posted: Updated:

A two-alarm fire at a multifamily home in Bridgeport sent at least four firefighters to the hospital on Wednesday.

Firefighters responded to 1042 Iranistan Ave. at 4:15 p.m. The firefighters sent to the hospital had been overwhelmed with heat and smoke.

Video from the News 12 drone shows fire shooting out of the top of the house. The blaze sent flames into the sky for at least an hour and the second floor of the structure collapsed.

According to the fire chief, firefighters rescued some residents using ladders. It was not immediately clear how many people lived in the building.
