Family, friends and colleagues gathered for the swearing-in ceremony of a Darien police chief Saturday.
More than 200 people gathered in the town hall auditorium to watch the swearing-in ceremony for Chief Donald Anderson.
Chief Anderson has a been with the department since 1983, and follows in his father’s footsteps.
His father was the late Bruce Anderson, who served as Darien Chief of Police in the late 80s and 90s.
There have been 10 police chiefs in the department’s 96-year history, and Chief Anderson has worked for half of them.
At the ceremony, Chief Anderson thanked his family and his colleagues and said he was eager to keep serving the community of Darien.
“I’ve always been very appreciative of the all the support the town has given me, and I certainly have no intention of letting them down,” he said.
