Posted: Updated:

A coupon shared on social media promising to be a valid $75 Costco coupon is fake, the company announced.

The company took to Facebook to debunk the viral savings scam by saying, "Despite several posts out there, Costco is not giving away $75 coupons."

According to fact-checking website Snopes, a similar coupon claiming to celebrate Costco's anniversary, surfaced during the 2018 holiday season and was also deemed fake.

The fake $75 coupon involved terms that asked shoppers to share their personal information in order to be eligible to receive the benefits.

Costco offers specific instructions on their website on how consumers can quickly identify a scam or fake coupon.
