Police in South Bound Brook made good on their promise to donate money to the town’s Parent Teacher Organization after the PTO treasurer was accused of stealing.
South Bound Brook PBA Local 148 donated $1,000 Thursday and started a GoFundMe page for the PTO. The GoFundMe has raised nearly $5,000.
"The PTO works really hard to raise money for these children and when our police officers found out about it they wanted to do something,” says South Bound Brook Police Lt. Rick Fitten.
PTO treasurer Renee Wilson turned herself in to police on Monday for allegedly taking the money for personal use. It is believed that she took as much as $20,000.
The PBA says that the goal is to raise all $20,000 back through donations. More information about how to help can be found on the GoFundMe page.
