Police: 15-year-old Uniondale HS student stabbed, struck with baseball bat

Police say after leaving school following dismissal, the 15-year-old boy was confronted by a group of unknown men at the corner of Walnut Street and Leslie Lane.

Police say a 15-year-old Uniondale High School student was stabbed and struck with a baseball bat Wednesday.
They say after leaving school following dismissal, the 15-year-old boy was confronted by a group of unknown men at the corner of Walnut Street and Leslie Lane.
News 12 has been told detectives from the gang investigation squad are investigating the assault.
"We believe there may be a gang affiliation to it, but it's still ongoing and we'll know more in the next couple of days," says Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.
Police say the victim suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound, as well as a head injury from being hit with a baseball bat.
He was transported to a hospital in serious but stable condition.
School officials told News 12 in a statement, "The Uniondale H.S. security team immediately intervened when they witnessed the student getting accosted and stopped the situation from escalating further.”
