A Cumberland County woman accused of using a nail clipper to stab her husband to death will remain in jail until her murder trial, a judge ordered Tuesday.
Kathleen Ayala also faces weapons charges stemming from the Jan. 12 attack at a mobile home complex in Millville.
County prosecutors have said the 30-year-old woman and her 35-year-old husband, Axel Torres, were arguing in their trailer when the dispute turned physical. Torres allegedly headbutted Ayala and later left the trailer, but prosecutors say Ayala chased after him and repeatedly stabbed him.
Ayala's lawyer argued that her injuries and her likely compromised mental state undercut the validity of filing murder charges against her.
