Lamont: Schools, businesses to remain closed until at least May 20
 
BRIEFING UPDATE:
-46 more deaths from Wednesday, Gov. Lamont said.
-1,003 new positive coronavirus cases bringing total to 9,784.
-May be reaching a peak based on hospitalizations, Lamont said.
-1,454, or about 41%, of patients have been hospitalized.
-380, or about 10%, of people with positive cases have died.
-More than 33,502 patients have been tested.
-78 orders of PPE are beginning to come in, Lamont said. Just under 19 million pieces of PPE were ordered.
 -11,000 state employees still going to work. 
-Lamont said the potential new date for schools and businesses to reopen is May 20.
-180,000 reading and other materials will be brought to students across the state thanks to Scholastic. 
-Commissioner of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona said they are evaluating whether schools will be able to open before the end of the school year.
-Cardona said the class of 2020 will get a graduation, even if the schools cannot reopen. School officials are working on graduation for the class of 2020, but said they will have a ceremony when it is safe.
-Lamont said he worries if "we rush back to work, there will be a second, third wave" of the coronavirus.
