Norwalk city officials had a statue of Christopher Columbus removed from the city’s Heritage Wall.
The city of Norwalk and the Columbus Memorial Fund say they moved the statue ahead of some protests this weekend due to fears of vandalism or outright destruction.
The statue’s removal was captured on camera by Fivefingaz Art.

He said he would like to see another historical figure honored in its place.
"I think finding other role models within the Italian community, within the Native American community, is a positive way to go,” he told News 12.
The group Unidad Latinas en Accione says it's not stopping at just the statue. It is circulating a petition to change the name of the local Columbus-Magnet school next.
