City officials announced Saturday that Connecticut State Police will join local law enforcement to begin patrols throughout the city.

"Public safety continues to remain our top priority. We had a very difficult few nights, to put it mildly -- tragic. We're partnering with other law enforcement. State police have been asked to come in. I spoke to the governor yesterday. He'll be a part of enhanced policing, enhanced patrols, community outreach in every neighborhood in the City of Bridgeport," Mayor Joe Ganim says.
Police say they're making progress in investigating the murders of the three people who were shot.
