The city of Bridgeport provided families with free thermometers Wednesday while handing out grab-and-go meals at Wilbur Cross School.
The city handed out 4,000 smart thermometers capable of tracking potential COVID-19 hot spots through smartphone technology.
Bridgeport Health Director Lisa Morrissey says a lot of families in the city don't have a working thermometer in their homes.
The thermometers were donated by the state's Department of Public Health and the health technology company Kinsa.
The city tells News 12 it's planning on giving out more thermometers to children and families as we inch closer to the school year.
