Stratford-based Sikorsky has scored a $2.7 billion contract from the U.S. Navy to manufacture 35 new King Stallion heavy-lift helicopters.
The money will also be used for eight aircraft for the Israeli Air Force.
"Today's announcement is a testament to the highly skilled Sikorsky workforce and supply chain companies who build the world's best helicopter," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal. "These 35 aircraft represent a boon both to our national defense and to our state's economy."
Blumenthal added he will keep fighting for the contracts to go to Connecticut's "top-notch defense makers."
