The Stratford community came together Thursday to support two 10-year-old cousins who are working hard to start their own lawn mowing company.
It was a surprise for the two young entrepreneurs when Home Depot donated a lawnmower to them, and they immediately jumped in to get to work.
The effort came about after Darius Concepcion and his cousin set up a water stand so the Stratford community could swing by and grab a flavored drink.
The 10-year-olds wanted to make some money and start a business and their hard work was noticed around town. Neighbors, friends and even police officers lent their support.
When three family friends heard Concepcion had plans to save his money and buy a lawnmower over the winter, the crew got together to see just how much it would cost to surprise the two with their very own piece of equipment.
Soon after, the Home Depot in Stratford wanted in on the surprise and packaged a hand-picked a lawnmower.
"Yeah, probably in my mind, I'm just so excited I can't, I can't talk. I can't," Concepcion said through a smile.
Both boys have birthdays coming next week just one day apart from each other, so the lawnmower was an early present for both. They will be out and about working on Thursday and Friday.
