Stratford official resigns after months of scrutiny
Stamford?s Chief Administrative Officer resigned Thursday after months of public scrutiny over allegations of sexual harassment and fiscal mismanagement at prior jobs.
Mark Haddad held the post for just under a year. His resignation will take effect November 7.Stratford Mayor Jim Miron says a background check was conducted as part of the hiring process. He says problems were found, but the Stratford Town Council launched an investigation that eventually cleared Haddad of any wrongdoing.
Haddad wrote in his resignation letter he was "personally subjected to undue public criticism and scrutiny."
Miron says Haddad was an asset to the town and that he will be missed. He calls the outcome an unfortunate turn of events.
Miron hired one of the other individuals considered at the time of Haddad?s hiring as the new CAO. Suzanne Ryan McCauley will take the position on November 8. She is currently treasurer for the Town of Easton.
