Stratford police to crack down on drunken boating over holiday weekend
Stratford police say they will be out on the water starting this weekend before the 4th of July holiday checking for boaters who are drunk.
Officers say they will be cruising with a boat and two Jet Skis to make sure people are being responsible on the Housatonic River and Long Island Sound.
This is part of Operation Dry Water, a national effort to help prevent alcohol-related boating injuries.
Police say the leading cause of boating deaths is alcohol use.
