Stray bullet strikes girl's bedroom window in Norwalk
Residents of a Norwalk housing complex are fired up Monday after a bullet pierced through the window of a little girl's bedroom.
The incident happened at the Washington Village Housing Complex. Police believe the shot was fired from Ryan Park, which is just across the street. Norwalk Police Chief Harry Rilling says police do not believe there was a target.
Clara Elmore, who lives next door to where the bullet hit, says she heard the shots. Elmore says crime in the area is the worst she has seen in the 28 years she has lived at the complex. She and another tenant plan to form a tenants association that will work with police to combat the violence.
No one was injured.
Housing authorities scheduled an emergency meeting for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Crisis counselors are set to be on hand to meet with concerned residents at the Washington Village Community Center.
