With a lot of confusion circulating around coronavirus antibody testing, doctors say it's important to get tested.
Connecticut is leading the charge when it comes to COVID-19 and antibody testing. Dr. Steven Murphy of Murphy Medical Associates now has more than a dozen testing sites throughout the state, with future sites coming to New York.
Dr. Murphy says the Center for Disease Control and Prevention does not advise using antibodies to rule out an infection. In other words, if you are positive and have antibodies, they likely will last for about three months.
A positive antibody test should not dissuade someone from letting up on their defenses. Even if you don't have symptoms, it's important to get tested from a public health perspective, according to Dr. Murphy.
"Knowledge is power," he said. "The early warning matters. The early identification matters. Identifying someone who has COVID can help save their life."
Murphy Medical Associates is covering all costs for testing.
