A study conducted by the Car Care Council claims approximately 80 percent of cars on the road are in need of repairs or services.
According to mechanics at A1 Transmissions Body Shop in Norwalk, many residents can't afford repairs during the tough economy. A1 Transmissions owner, John Lorusso, says 25 percent of his customers have put off serious repairs, like fixing brakes and changing tires.
Lorusso says some drivers have attempted to repair their cars on their own. Experts say at-home repairs could lead to further damage and more expensive fixes in the future.
