Study: Lifestyles contribute to greenhouse emissions
A new study by the Connecticut Climate Coalition shows greenhouse gas emissions are on the rise in the state.
According to the study, the bulk of the problem is not due to local factories or smokestacks, but by residents? lifestyles. Between 1990 and 2005, federal data revealed greenhouse gas emissions went up more than 8 percent in Connecticut.
The study found the three biggest pollution sources were transportation, home heating and electricity. The study suggested the state and federal government create incentives for people to change their ways.
The study?s authors are hoping the state Legislature will pass a bill creating mandatory limits on statewide emissions that contribute to global warming.
