Suicide ruling shocks friends of college student from Shelton
? The death of a Shelton man whose body was found in a Bridgewater lake was ruled a suicide Thursday, much to the shock of everyone who knew him. The medical examiner investigating the death of 22-year-old Joseph Zahornacky says he drowned. Zahornacky was a junior at Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York. His peers say he was a familiar face around campus and they are shocked to hear the news of his fate. The suicide ruling was also a surprise to Manhattanville College Community Service Coordinator Craig Donnelly Jr., who recently worked with Zahornacky in a youth outreach program. Donnelly says Zahornacky always wanted to make a bond with people, whether it was his fellow students, staff or the people that he served. Students and administrators will gather at the campus chapel for a prayer service Thursday in Zahornacky?s memory.Zahornacky disappeared late Monday while driving back to school from LaGuardia Airport. He was last seen on surveillance video Monday night talking with a woman at a Greenwich gas station. His vehicle was discovered sinking in Lake Lillinonah in Bridgewater early Tuesday.
