The Bridgeport Public Schools superintendent hit the streets Saturday with a team of volunteers to track down dozens of high school students who haven't reported to school this academic year.

Superintendent John Ramos says he got the idea for the "No Excuses Campaign" from a district in Houston, Texas. Ramos says he and his volunteers talked with students and their families about why they missed school and why they should come back.

Ramos says any students who return to school will not be penalized and will be given extra help to catch up. Currently, about 75 percent of Bridgeport high school students graduate.
