Suspicious package snarls traffic in Stamford
A suspicious package in downtown Stamford snarled rush hour traffic Friday morning while police investigated the situation.
The package was spotted at the construction site near Stamford Town Center on Tresser Boulevard. Police closed off the surrounding streets and sent in the bomb squad to investigate after they received a call about the package at 8:30 a.m.
Investigators determined the package was non-explosive. However, the road closures caused gridlock on the city?s streets. Officers were out directing traffic at all the intersections. All roads were reopened around 11 a.m. after the area was determined to be safe.
