(06/19/06) BRIDGEPORT ? A weekend stabbing in Bridgeport has left one teen dead and one behind bars.

Bassick High School junior Tavon Duharte was stabbed multiple times in the chest during a fight at a party Friday night. Police say the 17-year-old stumbled to their patrol car screaming that he had been stabbed. Duharte then collapsed and was taken to Bridgport Hospital where he died after hours of emergency surgery.

Police have charged 18-year-old Davon Harris with Duharte?s murder. According to police, Harris claims the stabbing was out of self-defense. He is being held on $500,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned Monday.
