(06/08/06) STAMFORD ? Police say a 13-year-old girl bravely fought off her attacker during an attempted abduction in Stamford.

According to investigators, the individual approached the girl outside a bodega on Cove Road near Lockwood Avenue Wednesday. Police say the girl screamed and slapped the man across the face. The suspect responded by punching the girl in the mouth, but the teen managed to get away.

Police say the man in question may have been involved in attempted abductions in Greenwich and Westchester County, New York. They say his green vehicle may link him to those other cases. In the meantime, Stamford residents say they?ll be keeping close tabs on their children and kids throughout the neighborhood.
