It happened around 2:30 a.m. near Exit 2 on the eastbound side in Danbury.
The driver was able to get out of the burning truck on his own before fire crews arrived, officials said.
Hazmat crews were called due to the possibility of a fuel leak.
The highway was closed for nearly an hour while crews brought the fire under control.
