Trial scheduled in case of NY couple killed on Merritt Parkway
A trial over whether the state of Connecticut is responsible for the deaths of a New York couple killed on the Merritt Parkway in Westport is scheduled to begin next June.
Joseph Stavola and Jeanne Serocke-Stavola died when a tree crashed onto their car on the Merritt Parkway 10 years ago.
Their two sons, ages 7 and 9 at the time, were hurt.
The lawsuit claims negligence, and names the state and Department of Transportation Commissioner James Redeker as defendants.
State officials deny the allegations.
