Many towns around Connecticut held Trunk-or-Treat Wednesday night.
The Fairfield Shopping Center kicked off the festivities at 4 p.m. for a free, fun and safe way to trick or treat. All proceeds will benefit the Norma Pfriem Breast Center.
In Bridgeport, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Park Avenue hosted its Trunk-or-Treat, offering games, card decorating and, of course, lots of candy.
Norwalk police will add additional patrols from Wednesday night through Halloween to keep trick-or-treaters safe.
Police are reminding trick-or-treaters to be mindful and careful when trick-or-treating. They say to cross the street at corners, use traffic signals and crosswalks and to always walk on sidewalk.
Police add to watch out for cars turning or backing up and for drivers to drive with caution.
Finally, they ask that costumes be kept creative and safe and remind that trick-or-treating hours are from 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
Some Halloween events were canceled due to rainy weather.
The Westport parade was canceled Tuesday. Kids came decked out in their costumes for other activities at Town Hall instead.
In Fairfield, the Emergency Management team debated having trick-or-treaters come out on Friday or Saturday, and ultimately decided against it. If you do battle the anticipated wind and rain Thursday, police hope people will put reflective tape on their costumes and carry a flashlight or glow stick.
The 8th Annual Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department's Halloween Truck or Treat event for residents of Woodbridge, Bethany and Orange has been rescheduled to Friday, Nov. 1 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m.
The New Milford Parks and Recreation Trunk or Treat has also been moved to Friday, Nov. 1 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Parking will be available at the community center, as well as the Creative Playground. Due to limited parking, participants are being asked to carpool if possible and bring flashlights because there will be low lighting. The event is free, however, attendees are asked to bring a bag of candy to donate.
