A University of Bridgeport student who lost his aunt during the shooting at Sandy Hook, is releasing a song in her memory.

Tyler Suarez's song is called Little Princess and it is in memory of Dawn Hochsprung. She was the principal of the Sandy Hook Elementary School. In honor of her first name, the song starts in the key of D.

"The way that the song came about in the beginning, we needed to figure out how to get these emotions, how to bring our family together in a time when we felt like we were just torn apart," says Suarez.

The album is called “Raise Your Voice! The Sound of Student Protest,” and features music from Parkland survivors and other students across the country affected by gun violence.

"The biggest thing I hope people get when they listen to this song is that same feeling that I get playing it," Suarez says. "The same feeling that I think my Aunt Dawn would keep bestowing in other people is that 'you mean something.'"

Suarez wrote the song with his grandfather.

The album will be released by the nonprofit Little Village Foundation.

It will debut at a music festival in San Francisco this weekend.
