News of the 4,000 U.S. deaths in Iraq has brought out different emotions in southwestern Connecticut residents and soldiers.

For Bridgeport resident Cedric Richardson, the death toll milestone has opened up old wounds. Richardson?s son, Stephen, died in a roadside bombing in Iraq last March.

?It?s like a flashback when you look at the numbers and think what happened year to date ? it?s a sad moment,? Richardson says.

Meanwhile, Lance Cpl. Jason Rabbit, who returned home to Norwalk last week from the Mideast, says the 4,000 Americans killed in the war on terror died for a good cause. He says while he grieves for his fallen comrades, it comforts him knowing they accomplished their goal. However, his father, Ed Rabbit, sees it much differently.

?Helping the Iraqis trying to establish a democracy is a good cause but it's costing too many lives,? Ed Rabbit says.

So far, 41 soldiers who died in the war were from Connecticut.
