A veterinarian from New Canaan was charged today after police in Westchester say he illegally disposed of animal remains.
Police say Andrew Manesis, 66, who works in The Bronx, dumped the remains along the Hutchinson River Parkway.
Police say the arrest comes after they found the remains of 35 cats, dogs and a lizard along the parkway.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Westchester says Manesis took payments to properly dispose of the euthanized animals.
A New York transportation worker found the carcasses on April 5.
Police say the animals all appeared to have died from natural causes.
