Veterans in Stamford came together to rally for a former soldier who was just diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer.
Stamford’s George Ducanic is an ex-Navy member who helped run the Toys for Tots program for 30 years.
"He's always looking to try to make everybody's life a little bit easier," said veteran Bill Pace.
During that time, Ducanic helped coordinate hundreds of collections to distribute thousands of toys to children before Christmas.
"He has no family the family he has is the community service he gives to others, not just the volunteers that work for him but everybody of need,” said Thomas Finn, who worked with Ducanic at Toys for Tots.
A GoFundMe has been created to help Ducanic with his mounting medical bills.
