Friends and loved ones of a 1-year-old boy who was struck and killed by an alleged drunken driver held a vigil in his memory Tuesday evening.
Matias Ortega was struck by a vehicle driven by Ronald Rebernik on Anderson Street in Raritan Borough Saturday night. The baby’s mother, Domitila, and 5-year-old brother, Daniel, were also hit. The family was heading to a park around 7 p.m. after just celebrating Matias’ birthday.
Daniel was critically injured and Domitila was also hurt.
Rebernik was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide, and two counts of third-degree assault by auto.
