Vigil held for man hit, killed by 2 cars in Norwalk
Family and friends held a vigil tonight for a 21-year-old man who was killed after he was hit by two cars early this morning.
More than 500 people filled the bleachers at Brien McMahon High School to honor James Shaw, of Norwalk. Investigators say Shaw was struck walking on the Route 7 connector just after midnight.
Police say an officer saw Shaw walking and shined a spotlight on him to help other drivers see him. They say Shaw then crossed into the road, where he was stuck.
State police investigating Shaw's death say the use of a spotlight is common, especially to illuminate someone when visibility is poor.
Investigators say it's still unclear why Shaw was walking along the highway.
