Volunteer group gives cheer, gifts to Bridgeport students
A statewide military volunteer group helped spread holiday cheer today to students at a Bridgeport elementary school. The Sikorsky Fallen Heroes Group handed out presents at Hall Elementary School, while students sang in their annual Christmas concert. City officials say they wish every school had a similar support group. "It helps the grades go up," says Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch. "I think it helps the families stay together during tough times, and I think it helps the people who are outside of the environment learn about what some of these children are up against." The toys were collected courtesy of Toys for Tots.
