Gas prices have been on the rise in southwestern Connecticut since last week?s election, however, energy experts say the price spike has nothing to do with politics. Michael Fox, of the Gasoline and Automotive Service Dealers of America, says warm weather combined with the fear of winter are reasons for the price hike. Fox says since it's so warm, there are more people than normal on the roads for this time of year. He also says market forecasters are worried that winter could strike at any time and the need for oil will increase even more.Despite the timing of the price jump, Fox says it has nothing to do with the recent elections. He also says there is an increase in demand for gas and a reduction in inventory.
