While many people in southwestern Connecticut are welcoming the mild winter weather, allergy sufferers are hoping the cold temperatures come soon.

Doctors say the lingering allergy season can be attributed to the recent warm weather. Doctor Ken Backman says while there is no ragweed or pollen in the air, there is mold. According to Dr. Backman, the freezing temperatures in the winter usually kill off the mold. However, since there hasn?t been enough cold weather, Backman says there is more mold than usual.

Backman says allergy sufferers should continue their normal course of treatment. He suggests antihistamines and prescription nasal sprays.
