Wave of violence forces lockdown of Bpt. schools
Five Bridgeport schools were on lockdown Tuesday after a wave of violence broke out in the Park City.
Police say they received a call about gunshots heard near several schools. Cesar A. Batalla Elementary School, James J. Curiale Elementary School and Bassick High School were all locked down while police investigated the scene and chased a suspect.
?The whole school had to go inside, under tables, had to stay away from the window,? one student said.
Later in the day, police say they received a call about a possible domestic violence incident. Luis Munoz Marin School and Edison School were locked down briefly during that investigation.
Students in all schools were let out about a half-hour after the lockdown. Meanwhile, police made an arrest in the first incident and are investigating the second. Police say the incidents are unrelated.
