Weston First Selectman Gayle Weinstein is speaking out in support of the governor's proposal to improve storm preparedness in Connecticut.

Gov. Dannel Malloy admits the state was underprepared for both Tropical Storm Irene and last October's nor'easter. Yesterday, Malloy unveiled plans that include more funds for tree trimming, legislation to increase utility accountability and a statewide training drill by September.

Weinstein said she's glad the issue of accountability is being addressed. She calls the proposal a good first step.

Weston was hit particularly hard by the nor'easter, with 80 percent of residents losing power. It took longer than a week to fully restore power.
