Westport police officer found dead in Newtown home
Police say a Westport police officer was found dead in his Newtown home.
Newtown police responded to the Elizabeth Street home of Sgt. Robert Myer around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say they went to the home for what they call a "medical assist." They say the response then changed to an investigation into an "untimely death."
Officials released a statement Wednesday, saying Myer served the community to the best of his abilities and that he will be missed.
