People in Westport were outraged Friday after police charged a teacher at Staples High School with two counts of second-degree sexual assault for allegedly having a sexual relationship with one of his students.
Police say it happened in the parking lot of the Westport Weston Health District last month after the teacher tutored the student at another location on Post Road. They have charged 44-year-old Theron Kissinger, of Southbury, with the assault.
A Staples High School student told News 12 Connecticut that she can't believe something like this could involve people from her school.
The school says it has placed Kissinger on administrative leave.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 23.
