In this week's "What's Ailing You," News 12 looks at fitness and how much exercise people need.
New Canaan internist Dr. Larry Leibowitz advises exercising 30 minutes a day on five to seven days a week.
If people really want to step it up and be more aggressive, aim for 75 minutes a week with more intense exercise like jogging or aerobics. Leibowitz says mixing in resistance training is a workout that spells wellness.
He says while most people don't exercise enough, it's important not to push yourself too hard. Liebowitz says to listen to your body's warning signs, which may include headaches, anxiety, loss of appetite, shortness of breath or discomfort during exercise.
