Stew Leonard's is prepping for some of its busiest shopping days as customers get ready to ring in the new year.
Filets and shrimp are hot commodities for dancing into the New Year. But it's unclear why filets are so popular.
"I really am not sure, despite being here for 30 years," said Vice President Les Slater. "I just know that everyone associates the Christmas and New Year's Eve holiday with filets. They either roast it or grill right outside. Everyone just loves filets."
They each serve eight to 10 people.
"It's nice to get together with friends and spend a little more money on meat that you don't normally would," said Scott Pearlman, a customer. "But I think around the holidays they're willing to spend a little more money on food."
Nadia Guarino, a Stew Leonard's employee, says they try to make it simple for customers.
"When you go home, just put it in the oven, follow our recipe ... You're all set in 35 minutes. Everyone is happy. It's so tender and juicy!"
Stew Leonard's sells thousands of filets each year during the holiday season.
