A Danbury woman faced a judge Monday after police say she deliberately burned a 3-year-old child that she was baby-sitting.
Police arrested Lidia Quilligana, 31, on Friday night after officers were called to investigate the child's injuries. They say the incident was caught on a nanny cam, but that they will not release the video because the case is still under investigation.
Prosecutors say the video shows the 3-year-old crying, screaming and trying to get away from Quilligana. She then allegedly picks the child up and puts her hands and leg on the stove burner several times.
Quilliagana's attorney says her client has watched the child and her two siblings at their home in the Woodland Hills Complex on Sienna Way for a year, and that this is the first complaint she has received.
Quilligana is charged with first-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. Her bond was set at $1 million.
She is scheduled to appear in court again next month. As for the child, police say she was treated by her doctor and has returned home.
