Fairfield police are looking for a man they say broke into a home and assaulted the young woman living there.
The incident happened Monday on Berkeley Road at around 3 a.m.
Sources say the victim is a student at Sacred Heart University. Police say she suffered cuts and scratches from fighting with her attacker.
Neighbors say several college students live on that street, and that there is typically very little crime in the area.
The woman described the suspect as a man in his 20s, standing at no taller than 5 feet 6 inches. She says he has dark spiky hair, light colored eyes and speaks with a Spanish accent.
Police say they do not think this was a random crime. They say the suspect is probably familiar with the area and likely had some connection to the victim.
