Woman dies after being struck by SUV at intersection of Hoyt and Summer streets in Stamford
Stamford police say a woman who was struck by an SUV downtown Monday afternoon has died. They say a Chevy Tahoe hit Janice Pielert, 58, in the crosswalk at the intersection of Hoyt and Summer streets.

Stamford police say a woman who was struck by an SUV downtown Monday afternoon has died.
They say a Chevy Tahoe hit Janice Pielert, 58, in the crosswalk at the intersection of Hoyt and Summer streets.
Police say there was an officer directing traffic in the area that witnessed the incident. Pielert was rushed to Stamford Hospital and succumbed to her life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV was also sent to the hospital with minor injuries. It is not clear if the driver will face charges.
