A Stamford woman was arraigned Friday on charges of assaulting an officer over a parking dispute.

Police say Brenda Mazariegos attacked Officer Gregory Zach as he was trying to arrest her on June 25. The altercation allegedly arose after the officer told Mazariegos parking behind her nightclub was off-limits at the time.

Mazariegos pleaded not guilty. She claims the attack was unprovoked and says she was only defending herself.

Zach has been transferred as an internal investigation is conducted.
