Police say one person is dead and another is charged with murder after a stabbing in Elmont.
The fatal stabbing happened inside a split home on Travis Avenue on Sunday around 1 p.m. Police say the 33-year-old victim, identified as Jasson Phillips, was stabbed multiple times.
The prosecutor said Phillips went to his room after a verbal argument with Desean Harrison, his housemate. Harrison then allegedly entered Phillips' room with a knife and stabbed him multiple times.
Police were in the neighborhood for hours, into the night, conducting their investigation. The intersection of Travis and Sweetman avenues was blocked off for most of Sunday but has since reopened.
Phillips' family told News 12 that he was a good man who was resilient and a hard worker. They said he worked with children who have developmental disabilities.
