The incident happened Sunday in the eastbound lane.
Police say Mariano Canales-Hernandez was attempting to cross I-84 when he was hit by a vehicle in the left lane of the highway.
They say he later died at Danbury Hospital.
Connecticut state troopers say the highway was closed between exits 4 and 5 Sunday afternoon but has since been reopened.
