City officials honored two Bridgeport businesses Saturday for helping people in need.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Mayor Joe Ganim recognized Planet Pizza and Aaron's, a rent-to-own furniture store. They say both organizations have helped more than 13,000 people within the past two years.
The head of the nonprofit organization Needs Clearinghouse says he was proud to have worked with both organizations to provide desperately needed services.
The companies work together to feed the homeless at the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and under the bridge on John Street.
