Fairfield police say two people are facing charges for breaking into cars throughout town.
Police are urging residents to lock their car doors after dozens of burglaries were reported.
They say they apprehended 22-year-old Mark Soto, of Bridgeport, along with an unidentified teenager near the intersection of Reef and Old Field roads early Friday morning after an officer spotted suspicious activity.
Authorities have recovered items such as a GPS device, phones and a portable DVD player. They believe the thieves are going out into neighborhoods in groups and scoping out unlocked cars.
While police say the arrests are a break in the case, they are warning residents to be on high alert because more thieves are out there.
Anyone with with information should call police immediately.
