Two people have been arrested in separate gold scam investigations that targeted elderly residents in Fairfield, according to police.

Police say Le Chen, 40, of Flushing, was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the first degree and conspiracy to commit telephone fraud in the first degree.

Chen was held on a $175,000 bond and appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 3, according to police.

The charges are tied to a June 2025 case in which a Fairfield resident was directed to withdraw funds and buy gold that was later picked up by a courier. Police say the resident lost about $166,000.

Huang was held on a $650,000 bond and appeared in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 3.

In a second case, police say Fangzeng Huang, 37, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the first degree and conspiracy to commit telephone fraud in the first degree.

Police say the charges stem from a September 2025 incident in which a Fairfield resident was persuaded to convert assets into gold and hand it over to people posing as couriers. The resident lost about $291,070.
